It’s been a while since I wrote up one of those illustration projects where somebody turns famous brands into something else – it’s kind of a played out idea by this point, but Dexter Maurer has breathed new life into the concept with Brand Knight, a series of illustrations that reimagine various brands as the kind of obscure action figures you might find at a discount store chain.
In the world of Brand Knight, Puma becomes The Wild Knight, adidas becomes The Archer, Shell is The Coast Fury, Nike is The Night Knight, and so on. Each action figure comes with its own set of accessories, or at least it would if these were real toys and not just an illustration project. Who knows? Maybe if this takes off we’ll see an animated series or movie based on these characters – the product placement possibilities alone should be enough to make it happen.
For now, we just have the Brand Knight illustrations by Dexter Maurer in the gallery below, via the artist’s own Tumblr post here.
