Sapphire is not a particularly exotic material in watchmaking. In fact it’s rather commonplace in watch dials and for a transparent back through which to see the watch‘s inner workings. But Bell & Ross have introduced the BR-X1 Tourbillon Sapphire, which takes things to a whole other level, because its entire case is made out of sapphire.
As you might imagine, since the BR-X1 Tourbillon Sapphire looks like a watch Space Ghost might wear while in inviso-mode, it requires quite a bit of craftsmanship to create. Hours of polishing and machining are necessary to give each watch its one of a kind transparent look, a visual effect that is almost startling to see in action.
