Jimi Hendrix rivals his fellow departed artists Michael Jackson and Tupac in the posthumous release department – you might think that at this point, nearly 50 years after his untimely death, we would have run out of unreleased Jimi Hendrix material by now, but it’s not the case. Both Sides of the Sky is an upcoming new Hendrix record from Sony Legacy Recordings, made up largely of previously unheard tracks.
Both Sides of the Sky is the concluding third entry in a trilogy of archival Hendrix releases, following People, Hell and Angels in 2013 and Valleys of Neptune in 2010. It will consist of 13 songs recorded between 1968 and 1970 with the band Hendrix played with on his Band of Gypsies live album, and ten of the songs are previously unreleased.
So keep an eye out for Both Sides of the Sky in the spring of next year, since it’s reportedly coming out on March 9th, 2018.
