Next year, if all goes according to plan, NASA will begin sending astronauts into space again, this time in partnership with Boeing. This will happen with a new craft known as the Boeing Starliner, and NASA recently unveiled the spiffy new Boeing Starliner spacesuit that the astronauts on board will wear.
The first thing you have to say about the Boeing Starliner spacesuit is that it’s more stylish than any previous NASA spacesuit, taking clear inspiration from the suits worn by the doomed astronauts in 2001: A Space Odyssey (hopefully the crew of the first Boeing Starliner mission won’t have any homicidal AIs to deal with). They’re also designed to be lighter, more comfortable, and more functional than older suits, even having touchscreen sensitive gloves for those sweet anti-gravity Instagram posts.
