Sunday night, rock legend David Bowie went back to his home planet, and his family recently stated publicly that everyone should mourn the icon “in their own way.” One of the coolest ways has to be the one decided on by Terry Urban, who created a mashup between Bowie’s “Moonage Daydream” and Notorious B.I.G.‘s “Dead Wrong,” titled, inevitably, “Biggie Stardust.”
“Biggie Stardust” places Bowie’s legendary glam-era guitarist Mick Ronson’s licks in a context that the most hardened hip-hop-head will appreciate, and Biggie’s lines might just inspire a Bowievil or two to check out his work as well. Lyrically, a less violent/misogynist rap song might have been chosen for this removed-from-context project, but then again, it wasn’t.
You can listen to “Biggie Stardust” for yourself below. And for more mashups and other cool stuff from Terry Urban, or to petition him to release a full-length Bowie/Biggie mashup album, check out his Soundcloud account right here.
