What happens to the battery power in an old phone when you replace it with something better? Perhaps you’ve never considered the question before now, but actually there’s a way to convert those old phone batteries to power packs for your new phone, and it’s called BETTER RE (say it out loud).
BETTER RE sports a design similar to an external hard drive, and can take the on-average 80% of battery efficiency from a discarded battery and use it to charge your phone. This is convenient for you, but it’s also great for the environment, especially if it becomes a widely used product, as it cuts down on wasteful throwing away of old but still useful smartphone batteries.
There are evidently enough old smartphone batteries sitting around for BETTER RE to raise about 17 grand over and above their $50,000 fundraising goal at Kickstarter here. You only have a few hours left to get on board, but it should be more widely available in the next few months, so keep an eye out.
