There’s a fierce contingency of individuals out there who believe that superheroes are (or should) be the exclusive domain of hard-boiled adults, no children allowed. Luckily, these people haven’t managed to turn all of our collective superheroes into R-rated nogoodniks (Deadpool notwithstanding), but they do tend to be catered to on home video, as the already-announced release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition proves.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition will be rated R for “sequences of violence” that apparently go beyond the PG-13 threshold. This is Zack Snyder we’re talking about, so it’s possible viewers of this cut will see Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and others snapping limbs off of bad guys.
Whatever the precise nature of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition‘s sequences of violence, fans will have to wait until the movie’s home video release to see them for themselves. The watered-down, nominally kid-friendly version of Batman v Superman hits theaters on March 25th.
