I mean this with as much sincerity as I can muster: Nintendo‘s recent announcement that a mobile version of the Animal Crossing franchise is on the way is very bad news for anyone who wants to spend less time glued to their phones rather than much, much more. As someone who just barely beat an AC addiction back in the GameCube days, I have a very bad feeling that Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp might spell the end of society as we know it.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is a camping-themed mobile version of the Animal Crossing games, which means you’ll while away hours paying off debt to the evil Tom Nook and his fellow capitalists, all so you can build a swimming pool at your campsite or whatever. The world of the game will progress in real time just like in previous AC games, only this time you’ll be carrying it in your pocket wherever you go. Here’s a quick teaser:
