One of the most pleasurable combinations that exists in fiction is science-fiction and detective stories, a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup that always tastes great no matter how many times it gets varied or repeated. Netflix is getting in on the action with Altered Carbon, a TV series based on the popular novels by Richard K. Morgan. Here’s what it’s all about, per Netflix:
“Altered Carbon takes place in a future where the human mind can now be digitized and downloaded into a “cortical stack” and placed into new bodies, called sleeves. The series follows Envoy soldier Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman), who is brought back to life centuries later to investigate the attempted murder of Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy), the wealthiest man on Earth. As the investigation progresses, Kovacs comes to learn that his past isn’t nearly as buried as he thought.”
Sounds pretty cool to me! The date announcement trailer for the series takes the form of a distorted advertisement for Psychasec, the company that offers customers the ability to “sleeve” their minds inside new, custom-made bodies. I’m telling you that so you don’t get your hopes up and think it’s an actual service when you watch the trailer:
The date in question is February 2nd, 2018, when Altered Carbon comes to Netflix.
