Fashion designer Rick Owens is set to be the latest addition to the adidas family of collaborators. The collaboration comes as a result of Owens’ realization about the limitations of his personal work in the footwear arena: “I can’t wear my big chunky basketball shoes [while working out]. I’d look like a dinosaur running through the Tuileries.”
Unfortunately for fans of Rick Owens and/or adidas, the shoes in the Owens-curated collection won’t be unveiled until June 27th—the date of the Rick Owens spring fashion show in Paris. But we do know that the collection will be made up of six running shoe styles for men and four for women, and they will all be based on a single silhouette.
There’s also some info available on pricing, as the shoes in the Rick Owens/adidas collaboration are expected to range from $400 to $500. Working out in a $500 pair of “running shoes” seems like a pretty interesting idea, doesn’t it?
