If you’ve been surfing any of the big culture/music sites lately, it’s highly probable that you saw some cryptic ads for something called 4:44, the precise nature of which was unknown. But over the weekend some new details on what has come to be known as the next Jay Z album were released, as well as a new trailer starring Mahershala Ali and Danny Glover.
4:44 will be a Tidal exclusive, and will also be joined by a Tidal-exclusive film of the same name, that will reportedly star the above two actors as well as Lupita Nyong’o. It’s a clip from this film that made up the trailer for the project, which features Jay Z vocals on a track called “Adnis.”
4:44, which so far as I can tell has nothing at all to do with the Abel Ferrara film of the same name (unfortunately), will launch as a Tidal exclusive on June 30th, in partnership with Sprint.
