If someone told you they could get you an “Apple Watch,” you’d probably get pretty psyched about the upcoming Apple smartwatch set to come out later this year. But actually, there’s another product that goes by that name, which came out back in 1995 with nothing in the way of smart technology. And until now, the 1995 Apple Watch has been mostly forgotten.
The original 1995 Apple Watch was a gift to Apple customers upgrading to Macintosh System 7.5. It’s a standard wristwatch, but with some design features that are of interest to Apple fans. For one, there’s the classic multicolored Apple logo, and then there’s the very attractive blue aluminum bezel and curved second hand, which represent the Apple aesthetic even in this humble form.
Now, the original, soon-to-be-replaced 1995 Apple Watch is experiencing a small resurgence thanks to tech fan Jonathan Morrison, who took the watch out for a spin with some Apple devotees and collected their thoughts on video. You can take a look at it below, and for more from Morrison, head over to his YouTube channel here.
