‘First Man’: A Film About Neil Armstrong’s Journey to the Moon (Trailer)

First Man

Director Damien Chazelle and Ryan Gosling already explored jazz in La La Land, and now they’re reteaming for the other great frontier: Space. The upcoming film is called First Man, and is said by the studio to be “the riveting story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the years 1961-1969.

First Man is purportedly a “visceral, first-person account” of Armstrong and NASA’s successful (sorry for the spoiler) effort to tread on the face of the moon. There’s a trailer out now for the film that calls that effort “the most dangerous mission in history,” which I suppose is one way of looking at it. Here it is:

First Man takes one small step into theaters, one giant leap into our hearts on October 12th, 2018, when it will naturally be available in large formats like IMAX. Presumably, a film about Buzz Aldrin waiting in the capsule is soon to follow.
