‘Papillon’ Remake Gets Trailer (Video)
It doesn’t get talked about as much as other 70s classics, but 1973’s Papillon starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman is still pretty good. That’s pretty much the only qualification to get a new version these days, and so a trailer for a remake staring Charlie Hunnam in the McQueen role (no comment) and Rami Malek in the Hoffman role is out now.
In case you’re not familiar with the source material, both screen versions of this story are based on the real-life autobiography of French criminal Henri “Papillon” Charriere and his attempts to escape a brutal French prison colony. Do they make it out? Can Hunnam hold a candle to Steve gosh-darn McQueen? Will general audiences figure out how to pronounce the word “Papillon?” These are the questions that the recently released trailer does not definitively answer:
Papillon busts into theaters this August, so keep your glasses peeled between now and then.
