Through a Different Lens

There’s a re-release of 2001: A Space Odyssey coming out soon, which means it might be a good time for you to bone up on Stanley Kubrick if you’re not already familiar with his work. There’s no better way to do that than to just watch his movies, but a new book focuses on his profession before he got into filmmaking: Photography. It’s called Through a Different Lens: Stanley Kubrick Photographs.

Through a Different Lens mostly collects material from Stanley’s five-year stint at LOOK magazine, where he worked as a photographer starting in 1945, when he was just 17:

“Featuring around 300 images, many previously unseen, as well as rare Look magazine tear sheets, this release coincides with a major show at the Museum of the City of New York and includes an introduction by noted photography critic Luc Sante.”

You can pre-order a copy of Through a Different Lens: Stanley Kubrick Photographs at Amazon right here, where they’re currently priced a $70 on the dot.
