Tabasco Diamond Reserve Hot Sauce
We seem to be reaching some kind of anniversary nexus point, and we can now add another occasion to the pile: The 150th anniversary of Tabasco hot sauce. To celebrate, the hot sauce brand has released, and I’m not kidding about this, Tabasco Diamond Reserve. Since I don’t possess the capacity to write about special edition Tabasco without at least trying it first, here’s some spicy copy straight from Tabasco itself:
“This celebratory, limited edition TABASCO® Diamond Reserve Sauce is made from a selection of the finest tabasco peppers on Avery Island, chosen for their superior color, texture and robustness. These peppers are mashed with a small amount of salt, then aged – some for up to fifteen years – and blended with sparkling white wine vinegar. The resulting pepper sauce has exceptional complexity, while maintaining the signature flavor and vibrancy for which TABASCO® Sauce is celebrated.”
I have to wonder, if the Tabasco people are sitting on some premium, sophisticated hot sauce, why not just make that regular Tabasco? But instead of doing that, they’re offering 6-ounce bottles of Tabasco Diamond Reserve right here, priced at $34.95 a bottle. Try putting some on a 50th anniversary Big Mac.
