Won’t You Be My Neighbor?

I feel sorry for all these young people running around who never got to watch Mr. Rogers. But maybe they can make do with reruns, or just check out the upcoming documentary all about the making of his long-running television show Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, entitled Won’t You Be My Neighbor?. You can probably figure out what it’s all about yourself, but just in case you need some gentle and patient explanation, here’s the official line from Focus Features:

Won’t You Be My Neighbor? takes an intimate look at America’s favorite neighbor: Mister Fred Rogers. A portrait of a man whom we all think we know, this emotional and moving film takes us beyond the zip-up cardigans and the land of make-believe, and into the heart of a creative genius who inspired generations of children with compassion and limitless imagination.

So, it doesn’t appear that Won’t You Be My Neighbor? will be a Behind the Music or E! True Hollywood Story-style expose, thank goodness. Check out the trailer below, and for more take the trolley to the movie’s official site right here.
