Seeing the Unseeable

The Flaming Lips’ last album was released last year, but now the band is embarking on what they call “an ambitious reissue program” this year. The biggest part of this program would have to be six-CD box set that spans the band’s early period, called Seeing the Unseeable: The Complete Studio Recordings of The Flaming Lips 1986-1990.

Seeing the Unseeable brings Hear It Is (1986), Oh My Gawd!!!…The Flaming Lips (1987), Telepathic Surgery (1989), and In a Priest Driven Ambulance (With Silver Sunshine Stares) (1990) back into physical print in totally remastered form, along with an assortment of rarities and b-sides. Before that, Scratching the Door: The First Recordings of The Flaming Lips, a single-disc compilation of the band’s preceding work.

Seeing the Unseeable: The Complete Studio Recordings of The Flaming Lips 1986-1990 reportedly comes out on May 25th, while Scratching the Door: The First Recordings of The Flaming Lips comes out on the thematically appropriate date of April 20th.
