“Too Many Stories”: A Lost Superman Story to be Published
‘A Futile and Stupid Gesture’ Out Now on Netflix (Trailer)
There’s a good chance you don’t know the name of the late comedy legend Doug Kenney. But before his untimely death, Kenney was the auteur behind National Lampoon magazine, which in turn gave birth to an entire generation of film comedy, from the original cast of Saturday Night Live to National Lampoon’s Animal House. Now, he’s getting the biopic treatment courtesy of David Wain and Netflix, in a new movie called A Futile and Stupid Gesture.
You remember how I mentioned Doug Kenney’s untimely death in the paragraph above? Well, you wouldn’t know that he was dead by watching the trailer for A Futile and Stupid Gesture, since the departed comedy icon is played in the present day by Martin Mull, as if he were still alive and well. It’s strange, but I guess it’s appropriate to brush up against those kinds of taboos in a biopic about Kenney. Check out the trailer below:
A Futile and Stupid Gesture is available to watch right now on Netflix.
