‘Richard Williams – Animating Movement’ Analyzes Great Animator’s Work (Video)
Richard Williams is not a household name. But as an animator he has risen to the absolute top of his field, the section reserved for practitioners so brilliant that they weren’t even able to finish their masterpiece before market forces and other ills took it away. A new video essay analyzes his work and explains what exactly makes it so great is out now: Richard Williams – Animating Movement.
As the opening narration of Richard Williams – Animating Movement says, even if you don’t recognize this great animator’s name, you have undoubtedly seen – and been blown away by – some of his work. The most famous thing he’s done would have to be the groundbreaking animation for Who Framed Roger Rabbit, which itself has been subject to its own rapturous video essay in the past, and he’s also animated such famous characters as the Pink Panther, Ebeneezer Scrooge, and more.
