Ali: A Life

Muhammad Ali has to be among the most written-about athletes – and written-about people – of the twentieth century, and by extension all time. But his life has yet to be subject to the comprehensive, unauthorized biography treatment, which makes tomorrow’s release of Ali: A Life something of a minor milestone.

Alie: A Life is the work of Jonathan Eig, who apparently outdid himself in preparing this volume:

“Eig had access to all the key people in Ali’s life, including his three surviving wives and his managers. He conducted more than 500 interviews and uncovered thousands of pages of previously unreleased FBI and Justice Department files, as well dozens of hours of newly discovered audiotaped interviews from the 1960s”

Muhammad Ali’s broad-stroke life story is a familiar one, but a book like Ali: A Life seeks to drill underneath the crust and provide a more in-depth picture of – arguably – the greatest athlete in history. You’ve got one more day to pre-order the book on Amazon right here.
