‘Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story’ – Documentary Features the Unsung Spider from Mars (Trailer)
Everybody knows David Bowie now, but casual fans might not be aware of the man who was for all intents and purposes his musical sidekick during his early 70s glam rock period, responsible for many of the killer guitar solos and riffs that define such classics as “Suffragette City,” “Queen Bitch,” and countless other Bowie songs. It’s this man that is the subject of a new documentary, entitled Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story.
Ronson was the lead guitarist on five of Bowie’s most acclaimed records, including The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars and Aladdin Sane, and Bowie himself recorded some voice overs for the movie before his death in early 2016. He also worked with artists like Lou Reed and Bob Dylan, so there’s no need just to think of him as a member of Bowie’s band.
You can get an idea of the enduring importance of Mick Ronson by checking out the trailer for Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story below. The film begins its limited theatrical run today, with a home video release prepared for October 27th – and you can get more information at the movie’s official site right here.
