DAMN.

Everybody loved Kendrick Lamar‘s latest masterpiece DAMN. How do I know it’s a masterpiece? Because within a week of its release, fans were already arguing about the merits of playing the record with a reverse tracklist. In a recent MTV News interview, Kung Fu Kenny confirmed this alternative method of listening to the album, even going so far as to imply that doing so is a superior experience:

“I think like a week after the album came out, [fans] realized you can play the album backwards. It plays as a full story and even a better rhythm. It’s one of my favorite rhythms and tempos within the album. It’s something that we definitely premeditate while we’re in the studio.”

There’s at least one “DAMN. backwards” playlist on Spotify now, and since I’m feeling generous I’ll go ahead and embed it below. Although I would like to add that I think it would be cooler to refer to this version of the album as .NMAD. And you can read the rest of Lamar’s MTV News interview in full right here.

Here’s .NMAD:
