‘How to Make a Blockbuster Movie Trailer’ (Video)
It’s already been conclusively established that all movie trailers are the same, but YouTube duo Auralnauts have proved it in the most entertaining way imaginable. It’s called How to Make a Blockbuster Movie Trailer, and it lays out in literal black and white exactly how the familiar, yet somehow still exciting, movie trailers we all know and know and know and love are constructed.
One of the most bizarre trends in the last couple years of movie trailers is the slowed-down, dramatic cover of a familiar pop song, which I believe can be traced back to that one teaser for The Social Network that had the children’s choir singing “Creep.” How to Make a Blockbuster Movie Trailer features an example of this trend that I wouldn’t dream of spoiling – so you’ll have to watch the short for yourself to hear it:
