Loveflutter: A Dating App Exclusively for Verified Twitter Users
The blue check mark used on Twitter means that you can rest easy knowing that that’s the real James Woods, the same who starred in Casino and John Carpenter‘s Vampires, tweeting about Hillary Clinton all day. But it can also serve a more positive purpose, like serving as a badge of entry into Loveflutter, a dating app open only to verified Twitter users.
Twitter verification used to be a mysterious process open only to celebrities and public media figures, but in recent years the social media site opened it up to anyone in the general public willing to use their own name and photo in their Twitter profile, and to verify their own identities behind the scenes. So Loveflutter isn’t as exclusive as it used to be, back when it launched in 2013.
The general idea behind Loveflutter is that it’s the one dating app that pretty much guarantees you won’t get catfished. It’s currently available in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, London and Tokyo, and reportedly won’t be available in your town until 1,000 eligible users sign up. Stay blue, online daters.
