JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

It’s not exactly a momentous occasion whenever filmmaker Takashi Miike puts out a film, given how unbelievably prolific he’s been over the last few decades. But the recently released Japanese trailer for his upcoming joint, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, seems a bit noteworthy anyway thanks to the, uh, bizarre nature of the movie.

I’d never heard of the manga/anime source material for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure before today, and thanks to the fact that the trailer is all in untranslated Japanese I won’t attempt to unpack what it’s all about. Instead, I’ll leave it to the reader to make his or her own interpretation by watching the trailer below:

This is actually the second trailer for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, reportedly assuaging fans’ concerns that the first one didn’t include psychic projections known as Stands, a crucial part of the original franchise’s mythology. No word yet on whether this will be getting a North American theatrical release, but its set to premiere in Japan in August.
