Sky Drive: Toyota Reveals Plans to Debut Flying Car at 2020 Olympics (Video)
30 years ago, the idea of the 2020 Olympics being held in Tokyo, Japan would definitely make most people think of flying cars. But as we all know, living in the future hasn’t been all it was cracked up to be, and flying cars are still comfortably in the future. And yet, Toyota recently revealed their Sky Drive project, which would reportedly debut a new flying car at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, so maybe those visions of the future weren’t so inaccurate after all.
The plan for the Toyota Sky Drive project is for a whole fleet of flying cars to be mass-produced at some point in the future. But the car’s debut will be at the opening ceremony of the 2020 Olympics, where the pilot will light the Olympic torch on behalf of George Jetson, Rick Deckard, and all the other flying car drivers of our imaginations.
Check out the progress of the Sky Drive prototype below. Atomic jetpacks are presumably on the way for 2024.
