Bridgestone Airless Bicycle Tires

Many of you are probably familiar with the conspiracy theory that suggests the technology for airless tires that never need to be refilled or replaced has existed for decades, and the auto industry has suppressed it in order to maintain their profit margins. I only bring it up because of the newly unveiled Bridgestone airless bicycle tires, which Bridgestone hopes to have on the market starting sometime in 2019. Next stop: debunking the Warren Commission.

Interestingly, the technology behind Bridgestone airless bicycle tires was originally developed for use in automobiles, so it’s possible we’ll be seeing a similar game-changer for larger vehicles as well. The bike tires are made with a thermoplastic resin and a wheel-like spoke-based structure that allows for a more durable and energy-efficient tire.

For now, you can read up a bit more on Bridgestone airless bicycle tires here, and stay tuned for more information on the tires as we get closer to 2019—unless the powers that be decide to step in again and kill the project.
