American Cherry Pie Frappuccino: Starbucks Drink Has Piecrust Lid
If you’ve been in a Japanese Starbucks location recently, you may have been surprised to see a thick slice of Americana on the menu: The American Cherry Pie Frappuccino, a pink cherry-flavored concoction that comes with a (probably) delicious lid made out of piecrust.
The American Cherry Pie Frappuccino isn’t just a chance for Starbucks to celebrate its American roots in Japan, but also a celebration of Japan’s own Sakura season when pink cherry blossoms are in bloom. Still, it’s hard not to feel a twinge of patriotic jealousy if you’re reading about this drink from the States … or maybe that’s just regular old jealousy over those piecrust lids.
In any case, the American Cherry Pie Frappuccino reportedly “combines cherry sauce, a vanilla-flavored cream base and whipped cream,” and is (for now) only available from Starbucks locations in Japan. At least it’s not apple pie. That would have been too much to bear.
