Facebook Stories

You know a social media platform is popular when other popular social media platforms seek to emulate it, and we’ve been seeing this phenomenon in action for years now with regards to the success of Snapchat. The latest example is Facebook Stories, a blatant attempt by Facebook to incorporate Snapchat’s most popular features into its own mobile app.

Facebook Stories is the first major update to the main Facebook app in a while, and it works a lot like Snapchat; users make custom posts that are available for viewing for 24 hours before vanishing, complete with motion face filters designed by artists Hattie Stewart and Douglas Coupland. Stories also comes with a private messaging function called Direct, which is separate from Facebook Messenger and can be used within the Facebook app itself, like Messenger used to be back in the good old days.

Facebook Stories is available on iOS and Android versions of Facebook now, and you can read up on the new features right here.
