‘Motor City': New J Dilla Compilation Announced (Audio)
‘Geostorm': Futuristic Disaster Movie Gets Trailer (Video)
How’s this for high-concept: It’s the not-too-distant future, and technology has advanced to the point that the weather is controlled by a sophisticated system of satellites. Things go well for a while, until the satellites start to malfunction, which is where the upcoming film Geostorm gets its hook.
Geostorm will star Gerard Butler, at least to the extent that it has a human star . The real star is obviously the SFX depiction of worldwide natural disaster mayhem, this time with the added bonus of being set in the near future. There’s a new trailer for the movie out, too—which, as all trailers these days are, is scored to a slowed-down, ominous version of a familiar pop tune (in this case “What a Wonderful World”).
You can watch the trailer for Geostorm below, if you want a little bit of optimism that society will last long enough to develop weather-control technology. The film opens on October 20th, and in the meantime you can check out its official site right here.
