‘The House': Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler Start Their Own Casino (Trailer)
“Suburban parents start an underground casino in their house” is what’s known in Hollywood as a high-concept premise, and I’m honestly kind of surprised it hasn’t been tried before. But now it has, and The House stars Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler as two parents who turn to crime in order to pay for their daughter’s education.
In that sense, The House is somewhat redolent of the 2002 film Stealing Harvard, but without the comedic expertise of Mr. Tom Green to help it along any rough spots. Still, the trailer for the movie shows it has a plum comedic ensemble of its own, even if it’s not a patch on Stealing Harvard‘s cast of ringers including Dennis Farina, Richard Jenkins, and John C. McGinley.
You can watch the trailer for The House below. The movie comes out on June 2nd, after which I’m sure we can expect at least one real-life cash-strapped couple to get a similar idea for themselves.
