PAL-V Liberty: A $400,000 Flying Car (Video)
In pop culture depictions of the future ranging from The Jetsons to Blade Runner and beyond, flying cars are depicted as a crucial component of the 21st century. But now that a flying car has actually been developed, it looks more like something out of The Great Race or Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines: It’s the helicopter-like PAL-V Liberty.
I’ll be honest, I’m a little skeptical about the Pal-V Liberty actually coming out, but according to PAL-V it can hit a top speed of 100 miles per hour on the ground, and when its retractable helicopter rotor is engaged it can reach up to 112 miles per hour in the air. You can get more information by watching the Liberty’s introductory video below:
You can make a first deposit on a PAL-V Liberty of your own at the company’s official site here, where the flying car is priced at $400,000—with an upgraded “Pioneer” version priced at $600,000. Deliveries are expected to begin by the end of next year, depending on how you define the word “expect.”
