Kuri: “The Home Robot That Just Might Change Your Life”
Sometimes I feel like I am the only person left in the world who does not wish to have a robot friend in my home to help me with everyday tasks. But I will nevertheless dutifully report on the latest advancement in home robotics: Kuri, billed as “the home robot that just might change your life.”
Kuri weighs 14 pounds and stands 20 inches tall, and he looks a little like a miniaturized version of Baymax from Big Hero 6 (furthering the Disney connection, the robot emotes and expresses itself with animations designed by a former Pixar employee). As for his functions, he can follow you around the house and receive voice commands similar to an Amazon Echo or Siri-equipped smartphone. He also has a camera for keeping an eye on things while you’re away, and even has its own proprietary “robot language.”
You can learn a lot more about what Kuri can do, and pre-order one for a lot less than The Jetsons probably spent on Rosie – $700 – at the robot’s official site here.
