PhotoScan by Google Photos Digitizes Old Photos (Video)
By my estimation, there are approximately 98,000,000 embarrassing photos that haven’t made it onto the internet yet. A newly unveiled app from Google Photos may drop that figure significantly though, so you better be prepared. It’s PhotoScan by Google Photos.
PhotoScan by Google Photos basically turns your mobile device’s camera into its own portable scanner for digitizing and immortalizing old photographs, like Polaroids and other relics from the pre-digital era. It does this more efficiently than previous approaches to the same end, and it also automatically removes those tricky glares that often crop up when you try to take a picture of another physical photo. After it’s scanned, the photo in question can naturally be shared or edited just like any other picture you might upload to Google Photos.
You can get a better idea of how PhotoScan by Google Photos works by watching the video below. And to get cracking on your own shoe box full of Polaroids, download the app from the Google Play store right here.
