Lifeclock One

Snake Plissken: International criminal, flew the Gullfire over Leningrad, president-rescuer-for-hire … style icon? No, the eye patch is not coming back this year, but we do have the next best thing in the form of Lifeclock One, an officially licensed smartwatch meticulously based on the countdown clock Snake wears in John Carpenter’s Escape from New York.

Lifeclock One does not in reality count down the hours, minutes, and seconds of life left to you before two capsules injected into your neck explode and kill you, but it does other things to make up for it: Push and app notifications, world clock, weather, compass, step counting, and more, all inside a “custom precision-machined enclosure” and with a strap of genuine leather. And yes, it does feature a Hartford Summit countdown clock, just for fun.

The Ridgewood Watch Company needs two hundred grand to make Lifeclock One happen, and you can contribute to the cause at the project’s Kickstarter page right here.
