‘RedBall Project’ by Kurt Perschke Comes to Antwerp (Photos)
If you found yourself strolling down the streets of Antwerp, Belgium late last month, you may have noticed that some of the city’s more distinctive landmarks had a curious addition: A giant red ball. You weren’t hallucinating after watching Minority Report or that one episode of Seinfeld with the giant ball of oil, but instead witnessing artist Kurt Perschke’s international RedBall Project in the flesh.
RedBall Project has Perschke putting a giant inflatable red ball at various points in a given city. Why? Here’s the an explanation from the artist himself, via an interview with Designboom:
”Through the magnetic, playful, and charismatic nature of the redball, the work is able to access the imagination embedded in all of us. On the surface, the experience seems to be about the ball itself as an object, but the true power of the project is what it can create for those who experience it. it opens a doorway to imagine what if?”
You don’t have to imagine what if, though, because you can see a bunch of photos from the RedBall Project‘s Antwerp, Belgium residency in the gallery below. And for more, just check out the project’s official site right here.
