After the Race: Art Made From Vintage Porsche Hoods and Doors
Automotive art is probably not one of the most respected fields in the art world, but if you’re a diehard car man (or car girl), who cares what the art snobs think? And now, thanks to Jean-Denis Claessens, and Edmond Thonnard (aka Pogo), car art buffs have their own creme-de-la-creme art brand for their own personal kind of snobbery. It’s called After the Race, providing one-of-a-kind paintings on vintage Porsche hoods and doors.
Taking inspiration from famous auto races like those at Le Mans and Daytona, ‘After the Race’ pieces don’t just use paint to make their images come to life. Other thematically appropriate ingredients of each After the Race piece include race slag, oil, tire rubber, and more.
Prices for an After the Race painting start at three grand, which makes one quite a bit more expensive than the usual beat-up NASCAR calendar or whatever else you might expect to find hanging on the wall of a garage. For more info, check out the brand’s official site right here.
