Roborace Driverless Race Car: For Our Post-Driver Future
I don’t know about you, but when I worry about the inevitable Robotic Uprising, one of the heaviest concerns on my mind is the fact that robots don’t play sports, and Earth’s fine tradition of sportsmanship will inevitably come to an end when we’re all working as underground slaves for the machines. So I’m extremely happy to report that designer Daniel Simon has developed the Roborace driverless race car.
Simon’s other designs have been seen in movies like Tron: Legacy and Prometheus, so a futuristic project like this is right up his alley. The Roborace (which may be pronounced like “Liberace,” but I doubt it) driverless race car was designed for and gets its name from a planned driverless auto race series in the future, and in addition to its myriad cameras and sensors necessary to allow it to navigate a track without human input, it also has a top speed of 180 miles per hour.
