“The Great Phatsby”: ‘The Simpsons’ is Doing an Hourlong Hip Hop ‘Great Gatsby’ Ep

The Great Phatsby

I’m not sure how or why this is happening, but in January The Simpsons will be airing a special hour-long episode (first in the show’s history, incidentally) that will be a hip hop tribute to The Great Gatsby. It will be called “The Great Phatsby,” which probably makes this one of those situations where somebody came up with a joke title first and just ran with it.

“The Great Phatsby” will also have Empire thrown into its list of influences, with special guest voice Taraji P. Henson playing “Praline,” a parody of that show’s Cookie Lyon. Part one of the affair will be entitled “The Betrayal,” while part two will be “The Revenge,” which I guess technically qualifies as a spoiler.

If you’re the type that likes to do your homework, you have until January to either read or watch The Great Gatsby, and maybe take in some Empire too, before “The Great Phatsby” comes to FOX sometime in January of next year. In the meantime, you can read a bit more about the episode right here.
