Bowie/Collector

David Bowie, it bears repeating, was known for a lot of things, but his art collection was not generally available for public consumption. That changes now, with the unveiling of Bowie/Collector, a new traveling exhibition from Sotheby’s that’s made up entirely of the Late White Duke’s art collection.

Works included in Bowie/Collector include pieces by Henry Moore, Frank Auerbach, Damien Hirst, Marcel Duchamp, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and many more, numbering about 400. The expected value of the collection is reported to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $13 million at auction, but the collection will be available for viewing by the public free of charge in London, LA, New York, and Hong Kong during the exhibition’s world tour.

Even if you won’t be able to make it to any of the Bowie/Collector tour stops this year, you can check out a preview of the collection in the video below. And for more information, refer to the official Sotheby’s site here.
