RZA and Atari

A recently-announced collaborative project reveals that the legendary RZA will be releasing an album that has a different reference point from his usual landscape of gangster movies, kung-fu dubs, and 70s soul tracks: Classic video games.

According to a new report, RZA and Atari are teaming up for “an album chock-full of original tracks inspired by the sounds of Atari game music.”

Here’s Bobby Digital himself on the project:

“I’m so excited to work on these iconic games to deliver what I believe will be one of my best albums. I am going to invite some of my friends to join me and it will be Game On with the first beat!”

While RZA may seem optimistic there, it is pretty cool to imagine what a producer like him could do with a comprehensive library of iconic Atari music and sound effects. So who knows? Maybe the as-yet-untitled album from RZA and Atari will be some kind of weird masterpiece. Details on the project are still in the offing but you can read a little bit more about it in the meantime right here.
