‘Continuum Infinitum’: Video Loop by Ben Ridgway (Video)
Way, way back in the earliest days of cinema, a man by the name of Eadweard Muybridge turned infinitely looping photography into both an art form and a vehicle for scientific observation. Now we have Ben Ridgway, who does for kaleidoscopic landscapes what Muybridge did for horses (note to Ridgway: You can use that line in marketing materials if you want). His latest work is called Continuum Infinitum.
If you’re looking for a way to veg out for anywhere from a minute to a few hours or so, Continuum Infinitum has you covered. Unfortunately, to get the full effect, the filmmaker recommends downloading and looping the video yourself, but you can get a glimpse of how that effect might work by checking out the Vimeo stream below:
Radical, right? If you want more of this kind of abstract yet highly detailed animation, you can check out more of Ben Ridgway’s work on Vimeo right here.
