‘The Floating Piers’: Installation Lets Visitors Walk on Water (Photos)

New from the artist known as Christo is an installation on the surface of Italy’s Lake Iseo, connecting coastal town Sulzano with the Island of Monte Isola and the Island of San Paolo using 100,000 square meters of fabric and 220,000 polyethylene cubes.

It’s called The Floating Piers, and the coolest thing about it is that you can walk across the water on it—that is, if you can make it to Lake Iseo between now and July 3rd, when The Floating Piers will be dismantled and the people of Sulzano will go back to their quiet, peaceful existence.
