Andy Warhol Skate Decks

I don’t know if Andy Warhol had a public opinion on skateboarding, and he died before it became the phenomenon that it remains today, but I do know that the artist’s famous pop-art aesthetic fits perfectly with skate culture. And I’m evidently not alone, since two pieces from a new line of Andy Warhol skate decks were recently on display at Art Basel, courtesy of the Beyeler Foundation and The Skateroom.

The two Andy Warhol skate decks that were on display were Colored Campbell’s Soup and Gold Marilyn, and Warhol’s Guns, Detail of the Last Supper, Self-Portrait, and more round out the collection. None of the decks are standalone pieces, instead making up sets of between three and 32 decks, as seen in the photo up at the top.

If you weren’t able to check out any of these Andy Warhol skate decks at Basel, the decks are still for sale at The Skateroom’s online store right here, where proceeds will go to Skateistan, a charity organization that brings art and skating to impoverished youth.
