Tales From the Crypt

The Tales From the Crypt franchise goes back all the way to the 1950s, when it was part of EC Comics’ line of horror and suspense comic books, and most people know it today because of the anthology TV show and movies from the late 80s/early 90s. It’s that HBO TV show that’s getting the reboot treatment (on TNT, alas) from executive producer M. Night Shyamalan, but the show will have a novel creative process to bring scary stories to the screen.

Where most of the original Tales From the Crypt show’s stories came from the original comics, the new hotness will get its shocks from people on the internet. It will happen through Wattpad, an “online fiction site” that will allow users to submit their very own stories for use on the show. And yes, if your story gets turned into an episode of the show, you will get paid, although it’s not been revealed how much.

You can read about the whole thing over at the Wattpad blog here. And if you want to see your own twisted imagination on the screen, you may want to study up on old Tales From the Crypt episodes, comics, and movies to see what they’re looking for. I recommend starting with Demon Knight, but that’s just me.
