‘Batman: The Killing Joke’ Gets One-Night Theatrical Exhibition
‘Ali’: Biopic Starring Will Smith Gets Limited Engagement to Honor Muhammad Ali
Legendary boxer and The Greatest of All Time Muhammad Ali passed away over the weekend, and the best way to memorialize him is probably to check him out at his best, in the ring during one of his many victorious matches. But another way might be to check out Ali, Michael Mann’s biopic starring Will Smith. And since it’s getting a limited theatrical re-release this weekend in his honor, you may never get a better opportunity.
It’s been a while since I saw the movie, but from what I can remember it follows many of the typical sports biopic patterns, but with a cinematic flavor that can only come from Michael Mann. Plus you have Will Smith in one of his best and most committed performances as Ali.
I can’t tell you what to do, but if it is indeed showing near you, you might as well check it out.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a dedicated website for the Ali re-release, but you can check out the showtimes feature on its IMDb listing here to see if it’s showing this weekend near you.
