The Godfather Notebook

Watching The Godfather, it’s easy to see the care and attention to detail that went into every aspect of production. But a soon-to-be-published book proves just how much creative energy went into adapting Mario Puzo’s bestselling novel to the screen even before a single frame of film was shot.  It’s entitled The Godfather Notebook.

The Godfather Notebook collects more than 700 pages of director Francis Ford Coppola‘s notes before he began filming—including his  annotations of the novel—plus a ton of photographs from when the movie was being made. It’s being called “the publishing event of the year for every film fan,” which is actually kind of hard to dispute.

Also including a new introduction from Mr. Coppola himself, The Godfather Notebook doesn’t come out until November of this year. But you can pre-order it from Amazon right here for $50, and check out a little more info on the book.
