‘Yeethoven’ Combines Kanye With Beethoven (Video)
The Young Musicians Foundation’s new project mashed up the greatest composer of the 18th and 19th centuries with the greatest composer of the 20th and 21st. It’s called Yeethoven, and you can now hear an excerpt featuring an orchestral mashup of “New Slaves” with Beethoven’s “Egmont Overture.”
The marriage of Kanye West with classical music works a lot better than you might expect, perhaps in part due to the grand, orchestral vibe that defines a lot of Kanye’s work. The Yeethoven project itself is actually a full-length concert that made its debut over the weekend, but the video covers two pieces from the show.
You can watch the Yeethoven video below, which also features a very short lecture in between the two pieces that explains some of the parallels between Mr. West and Mr. Beethoven. And for more from the Young Musicians Foundation, check out their official website right here.
