Arby's Leap Day Vegetarian Menu

I don’t imagine vegetarians spend much time at Arby’s.  After all, the name of the restaurant comes from the initials for “roast beef,” and even most meat-eaters would probably be hard-pressed to argue for large portions of Arby’s roast beef sandwiches in one’s diet. But this February 29th, vegetarian visitors to the restaurant will be treated to Arby’s Leap Day Vegetarian Menu options for guilt-free Arby’s consumption.

The Arby’s Leap Day Vegetarian Menu is not a testing ground for weird chemical meat substitutes or roast tofu, but instead all the usual Arby’s sandwiches with the meat removed. It’s like a joke, you know, for the internet.

Here’s Arby’s brand president Rob Lynch on the promotion:

“At Arby’s, we’re proud of our meats, but we also understand that meat isn’t for everyone. So we’ve decided to give vegetarians a reason to visit Arby’s on Leap Day by offering a one-day menu designed specifically for them. If it goes well, we’ll likely bring back the vegetarian menu on February 29 each year.”

Whether you decide to hit up your local Arby’s on February 29th and order a vegetarian Beef ‘n’ Cheddar is entirely up to you, but in the meantime you can check out Mental Floss’ story on the Arby’s Leap Day Vegetarian Menu here, just so you don’t think I made this whole ridiculous thing up.
